Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Here you will find a collection of my favorite discoveries while traveling around the world.

I particularly like to focus on those that have personally evoked a soulful experience... you know... those kind that stop you in your tracks with their "wow, that's so cool", those moments that you get goosebumps from seeing something so breathtakingly beautiful, or eating food so yummy it makes your toes curl with delight!

Yep- those…It's what I live for. Hope you enjoy!

Every time my boyfriend and I pass by this little treasure in Le Marais, we peek inside the narrow path way leading to the entrance and go "ohhh we should try this place".

So being the amazing boyfriend that he is, on Saturday night he said "let's get dressed up, I'm taking you on a date" and surprised me with dinner at Le Dôme du Marais.

Important Note: Guys- making your woman feel special never gets old :)

From the minute we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly Maître D who walked us through the beautifully enclosed, green room terrace to our plush seating in the infamous domed auction house.

Dôme d'ambiance

The dome is decorated with roses and boxes and is claimed to be one of the finest examples of a neo-classical circular skylight in Paris.  Couple that with the ambiance of lit, flickering candles and warm toned lighting which changed at 5 minute intervals and this Dome certainly had the romance magic flowin'.

With us now in our seats, it was onto the good stuff...the food!

One of my favorite things about many of the nicer restaurants in Europe is that the chef starts you off with a complimentary treat or what they call-"amuse bouche"- which directly translated means mouth amusement - ha!  So for this evening's treat it was a nice and lightly done celery puree which I very much enjoyed, and the bf well... he let me finish for both of us.

Nos Entrées:Sea bream in carpaccio, lime, pomegranate, pulp and sweet potato chipsAsparagus from Provence, Dutch with green anise & crispy lace

Being that we were good and hungry, we went the Parisian way and each ordered a starter, or in French l'entree, and a main, (le plat), which by the way we always split to ensure there is no order envy!

For our starters we chose the Sea bream in carpaccio, lime, pomegranate, pulp and sweet potato chips & the Asparagus from Provence, Dutch with green anise & crispy lace (shown here). For our mains we selected the Fricassee of yellow poultry served in cassolette, fresh vegetables with juice & old xerez & the Fillet of French beef, pressed agria potatoes, mushrooms & parsley coulis, all of which were delightfully done and cooked to perfection.

Now unfortunately for you, the starters were so delisssh that I forgot to take pics of our mains out of sheer excitement to try what was next but should you ever visit, you have my vote for these tasty chicken & beef plates.  We did however decide to skip out on dessert as I'm currently working on my summer body and nothing was found to be so delectable to make me break my vow. However, if you ever come for your own Dome experience or have taken part in the finishing touch of dessert here before, please do let me know how it is.
